Dr. Bachchan Kumar,
PhD, DLitt, specializes in art, history and culture of South-East Asia.
He has published a number of books and research papers. His latest book
is The Buddhist Art: Vietnamese Perspectives. He is a recipient
of Prof. A. K. Narain Award (2002) for the study of culture and
civilizations of countries other than India offered by Indian
Archaeological Society, New Delhi, Asia Fellows Awards (2004-2005) and
Asia Fellows Follow-Up Award (2007) awarded by Asian Scholarship
Foundation, Bangkok under Ford Foundation, USA. Dr. Kumar has organised
and participated in various national and international seminars and
conferences in India and abroad. He is in charge of South-East Asian
Studies, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi.
