For the month of June, 2018, IGNCA will hold a book reading session of ‘Conflict, Education and People’s war in Nepal’ by Shri Sanjeev Rai. This book presents an overview of the democracy movement and the history of education in Nepal. It shows how schools became the battleground for the state and the Maoists as well as captures emerging trends in the field, challenges for the state and negotiations with political commitments. It looks at the factors that contributed to the conflict, and studies the politics of the region alongside gender and identity dynamics.

Book Reading cum launch session of `The Making of Early Kashmir – Landscape and Identity in the Rajatarangini’ by Dr. Shonaleeka Kaul, Associate Professor, Centre for Historical Studies, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Shonaleeka Kaul is a cultural historian of early South Asia specialising in working with Sanskrit literature. She has also been the Dinakar Singh Distinguished Lecturer in South Asian Studies, Yale University, U.S.A, and the Jan Gonda Fellow in Indology, Leiden University, The Netherlands.

Her books include: Imagining the Urban: Sanskrit and the City in Early India (Permanent Black and Seagull with University of Chicago Press, 2010), Cultural History of Early South Asia: A Reader (Orient BlackSwan, 2013), and The Making of Early Kashmir: Landscape and Identity in the Rajatarangini (Oxford University Press, 2018)

This month, Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri will be the Resource Person.   He is the Vice Chancellor of Central University, Dharmshala, H.P. His fifteen books are already published.  Dr. Agnihotri will read from his book Jammu Kashmir ke Jannayak: Maharaja Hari Singh.  This is the first book on Maharaja Hari Singh which opens new path from the pre defined conceptions.

He is teaching Modern Hindi Poetry in the Department of Central Hindi Languages at Jawaharlal Nehru University. In 2008 he was also visiting Professor at Sofia University, Bulgaria.
