Celebration of World Folklore Day: Essence of Oral Traditions as a Carrier of Culture Jharkhand is a state in eastern India known for its pristine nature and boasts a rich cultural heritage that includes a diverse array of tribal and regional dance, folk songs, paintings, games, mythology, customs, rituals, handicrafts and fairs and festivals. This lecture was organised to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and dissemination of the rich oral tradition of Jharkhand to young researchers and students. It also enhances the knowledge and encourages the young generations to undertake research on the rich cultural heritage of the state. It was followed by the screening of documentary films on the origin of mankind and the creation of the universe according to the belief system of the Munda tribe and the Sohrai festival of the Santhal tribe.
