Prof. Nirmal Kumar Bose, who used anthropology to demonsrate India's unity in the diversity of cultures.

The first in the series were two lectures, on 'The Heritage of Nirmal Kumar Bose' and 'Indian Civilization: Structure and Change', delivered by Prof. Surajit Chandra Sinha.  The first of these dealt with how Prof. N. K. Bose presented his ideas about the structure and transformation of Indian civilization while the second one dealt with Prof. Surajit Chandra Sinha's ideas.

SURAJIT CHANDRA SINHA was closely associated with Prof. N. K. Bose since 1949 and was inspired by his original approach to the study of Indian Civilization and his dedication and humanism as a man and scholar.  Dr. Sinha has been among others, Fellow, Centre for Advanced Study in behaviourial Sciences, Stanford, Vice-Chancellor, Visva-Bharati.
