Masks are an important part of many performative tradition in different part of the country. The use of masks during the Ramayana performances can be observed in various parts of India. Here on display are Masks from Pune, Varanasi, Malda, North Dinajpur, Bankura, Jalpaiguri, Purulia, Saraikela, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Orissa. They are made of different material depending on their availability in a particular region, and traditions of craftsmanship.

Puppets

Tales of Ramayana and Mahabarata are an important part of the puppetry tradition in India. There are different styles of puppetry depending upon the form, structure and manipulation technique of Puppets such as glove, rod, string, and shadow puppets. The exhibition displays puppets related to Ramayana, like Glove puppets from Kerala, Rod puppet from West Bengal, String puppets from Karnataka and Shadow puppets from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Indonesia. Ramayana stories are an important part of their narrative reperpoire.

Paintings

Episodes of Ramayana and Mahabharata have been favourite theme of the folk painting tradition in different region of India. Using the basic material available in nature the artists create master pieces that are attractive in their rudimentary simplicity. The folk paintings on display have the common theme Ram Katha such as Gond paintings from Madhya Pradesh, Madhubani Paintings from Bihar, Kalamkari from Andhra Pradesh, Chitrakathi from Maharashtra, Patachitra from West Bengal and Orissa.

Costumes

Colourful costumes, towering headgears, elaborate make-up and other accessories play a vital role in Ram Katha performance. In the exhibition are displayed the costumes used in Therukoothu from Tamil Nadu, Yakshagana from Karnataka and Sahi Jatra from Orissa.

Makeup

The makeup artists will give live demonstration of their art in the exhibition.

Apart from these, weapons, backdrops, musical instruments and audio-visual display will also be part of the exhibition.
