When
Sita returned to Ayodhya from Lanka, Urmila, the wife of Lakshman forced
Sita to draw the portrait of Ravana. The angel called Nidra made Sita fall
asleep. Shri Rama happened to see the portrait of Ravana. Moreover, Sita
was pregnant. Rama asked his younger brother Lakshman to leave Sita with
Sage Balmiki in Kadaliban. While staying in bon, Sita gave birth to twins
Lav and Kush. Rama sent a horse in connection with Ashwamedha Yagya. When
the horse reached the ban, a battle broke with Lav and Kush on one side
and powerful force led by Shri Rama himself on the otherside. In the
battle, Shri Rama, Lakshman, Hanuman and others got defeated and died at
the hands of the two brothers. Sita felt very sad at the happenings. In
the mean time the Sage Balmiki returned from a journey of Patal (the
underground world). He was carrying with him the sacred water known as
Kamandalu which could restore the life of a dead man. He sprinkled the
Kamandalu upon Shri Ram and Lakshman, and they became alive. Ram
recognized his sons and wife and brought them back to Ayodhya. He reigned
there happily.
